accuray of X-Ray test
I am 20 years old, just turned 20 a few weeks ago. And I grew 1 inche over the last one year and my doctor says my growth plates are closed.. that's why I am very skeptical about this x-ray test.
I've done wrist, elbow, and ankle x-rays and their growth plates are closed according to my doctor. But I believe that there are other growth plates that usually close later. What are those? And aren't Bone scan or MRI more accurate in measuring how much your growth plates are left? Obviosuly, x-rays are just too vague and unclear to determine whether your growth plates are open. Even though your growth plates are slightly open, doctors only estimate closure of growth plates based on the x-ray that isn't in clear-magnified version unlike MRI or Bone scan. |

RE: accuray of X-Ray test
True, growth plates do close at different rates and its possible the ones in your shins are still open. They are accurate though.
