I just turned 17 last month, and I'm about 5'9.75. My parents are 5'11 and 5'6. I guess what's bothered me slightly is that I never had a large growth spurt like most other people my age - I've just grown pretty slowly at a rate of 1-3 inches every year for the last 5 (I've grown 1.5 over the last year.)

I've always thought that this may have just been unlucky, or that I hadnt got enough exercise while I was growing or whatever. But today I was told something pretty hopeful!

I asked my mum when my 6'3 Uncle (her brother) had his growth spurt. She said "between about 18 - 20". Wow, that made me a little more positive. I sure hope I've got the right genetics...but only time will tell.

Does anyone know ways to see which genetics you have, or how much growth you have left?

I've read that growth plates in the wrist close last, but can you feel the bones around the wrist to get an idea of how "closed" they are, or something similar?

Might my physical charactistics tell me anything? Although I'm an inch shorter than my dad - my hands are larger one thing; with all of my fingers being about 1cm longer than his. I'm also a few shoe sizes up on him.

Yeah theres people that do grow after high school

pisces shot up from 5'4 to 5'7 then from 5'7-5'11 after the age of 18 and also bro the wrist thing its not tru man i bench press i forced those things to close i was pushing 2 plates ofcourse mine closed but i still grew after that and im still growing dont get discouraged i kno its sucks to wait but ur gonna get there and if u are impatient do sum stretches u'll find frmo links on this site
