OK, guys. When you sign up, your going to be hunting for info on how to grow taller.

This is a basic guide on what exercises to do.

The ONLY exercise PROVEN to help people DIRCETLY AND INDIRECTLY grow taller is *drumroll* Weight Training.

Yes, the sport your mother said would stunt your growth, the sport people said would make you short, the sport everyone convinced you would be detrimental to your height.

Here is HOW it works.

When you weight train, your putting mechanical stress on your bones (and growth plates), this stimulates the formation of new bones and growth plates tissue. This increase is onll about 2% (1"). Bone mineral density also increases.

There is an indirect "pathway" too.
When you exercise, you stimulate the pituitary (hGH realesing gland) to realese more hGH. This optimises hGH levels for growth. The more muscles worked, the better. Any height lost in the spine after squats will come back after a good nights sleep.

Deadlifting has an extra effect, it strenghens back muscles, improving posture, which can instantly add a good 2-3" if your lucky.

Now, what about basketball and streching?

Why are basketballers so tall? Becuase they play basketball? No, they are tall becuase of hormonal reasons (gigantism, acromagely, hGH/IGF-1 injections), genes or simple dumb luck.

What about streching? This isn't even growth, it's just pulling on the tendons and ligaments, any height gained through this method will disapear (this can take 1 week to 2 years) unless you do it your entire life or you use a medival torture rack, after 6 months with dislocated limbs, you can grow taller Tongue

What about the shinbone routine? Unless you have a CLEAN cut directly across the bone (so one entire section has been sliced through) and you don't die from pain, it won't work. You need a strait line across the shinbone, and if you have this, you won't even be able to walk. ANymicrofractuars made will be uneven and will heals before you can lenghen them out.

This is a simple guide for our newer members.

Good luck in you height quests!

Willhu12, does kicking stimulate growth plate?
If not, what kind of weight training can stimulate growth plates located in knees?

Urrm, kicking I'm not sure about.

Most routines focus on micorfractures, so are not effective. A better person to consult on weight training is HeightFX, he gave me most of the knowledge you read here.

A bit depressing for us whose doing stretching.

You said, when you exercise you stimulate the pituitary gland and secret more HGH. Is stretching not an exercise?

And, what do you mean by "simple dumb luck"?

Weight lifting is extreme stress and uses far more muscles than merley stretching. This is far stronger at hormonal realese than stretches.

Dumb luck = Michael Jordan, lol
