RE: New Height Calculator(Alpha Testing)

Heh thanks for doing that youngweatherman, I'd be really happy with that. Infact I'm about 176 in the morning when I get out of bed, losing 1/2-3/4 of an inch over the course of the day, so at night I'm about 174.5 I guess.

I was just thinking, another grey area with this is that it just uses your current age. In growth terms, there could be considerable difference between someone who's 16 years and 0 months and someone who's 16 years and 11 months, however this would not be reflected in the test. Obviously the age people stop growing at/ experience growth spurts is very variable so it would be impossible for 100% accuracy all the time. I guess you're basing it on the average amount left to grow at any given age?

You say one of the 4 factors you're using is genetics? Does that mean parents' height is being taken into account?

It'd be fantastic if you manage to enhance it with more factors in the future but it's great as it is now.

RE: New Height Calculator(Alpha Testing)

yep, thats what I am basing this on, but like I mentioned age isn't a big factor considered in this test. So the margin of error of the age factor should be left at fairly minimal. Yes, that is one of the things I am considering in the future upgrades for this program, but that should be left for me to think a while later cause I still need lots to learn for me to take this into the next level.
Predicting height is like like predicting weather(Which I like to compare to for obvious reasons Wink ), its alot easier to say increase the accuracy from 50% to 95%, but it would be darn hard to turn 95% to 99%.

That's true, to be honest I'd never really thought of it before. We don't know what the accuracy rate of yours is yet, but logically I would think it'll have quite a high accuracy percentage, although there will be anomalies.

RE: New Height Calculator(Alpha Testing)

it's just in the alpha phase, and no other calculator i've seen so far goes this deep in gaining information, ofcourse things like age should be worked out a little more but give it time. But statistics like 99% are just out of reach because there is always a slight marge that will not grow as your calculator plans. I mean if two persons answered the questions with exactly the same answers at 13-15, their body's could still react so different to the situation they where in at that age that they could develop to grow to an entirely other height i believe. The closer you get to the age you reach your final height the better chances you have of getting an accurate result.

or am i just talking rubish right now? Tongue

5'8 is your final projected height with 3.4-5.1 inches left to grow.

you sure you only got 3 on your stage calculator? that is like beyond the 99.999% percentile. I am a late boomer and I even got 3.1 at 15.
