RE: New Height Calculator(Alpha Testing)

Ok, let's give it a shot:

Current Height: 188.5
Age: 15
Sex: Male
Parent's height: 184 and 160
your growth during last 3 month: 2.5 centimeters
your stage of puberty(use the links below to find out, by one decimal place): 4.0 (although im not sure about some answers it could be 3.8 - 4.2

Just because im curious, what is the average tanner stage for a 15 year old guy? and what is your own predicted height?

your projected final height is 193.1 cm within the range of 2.6-7.6 cm of growth left.

A person that just turned 15 is on stage 4.1 on average.

My predicted height is 179 cm with the range of 12 - 18cm of growth left(forgot the exact decimal places).
I am on stage 3.1 with 5cm of height gain over the last 3 month.

RE: New Height Calculator(Alpha Testing)

Ok, thank you.

It seems atleast a lot more trustworthy already than most height predictors although it's only alpha testing yet^^ (but maybe thats because this is the only one where i had to measure my balls for :') )

Unfortunately due to my lack of computer programming knowledge, the beta version would only be available in Turing language(which you need to install a Turing platform, small and fast though). Do not be worried though, the final version would be an regular EXE which would be changed and editted by my dad who's a professional computer programmer. Tongue

RE: New Height Calculator(Alpha Testing)

I got 5.2, which seems pretty accurate. I'm guessing that's one of the highest scores, and having gone through puberty at a fairly average age I'm sure I'm basically done with it. Height-wise I was a late-bloomer but with everything else I was average or maybe even a bit early. The only criticism of that test is that some questions have options about different things, for instance the one about arm/leg hair and chest hair, otherwise it's really good.

Edit - By the way I really like what you're doing here youngweatherman, this looks to be as good a height calculator as any I've seen on the internet. The classic one seems to be (Mothers Height + Fathers Height) / 2 = Childs Adult Height (+7cm if a boy, -7cm if a girl).

D'you think there's a way of maybe incorporating how much the given person has grown in a long time-period, like 6/12/18 months. I was just thinking 3 months might not be enough to give a good indication. I think I've grown about 0.5cm or so in these last 3, although I couldn't be 100% accurate.

Andy, Male, 18 - D.O.B May 11th 1990
Height - 5'9 1/2" /176-176.5
Goal Height: 5'10"
Fathers Height: 5'9"
Mothers Height: 5'3"
Brothers Height: 5'10" - Aged 20, a year and a half older

RE: New Height Calculator(Alpha Testing)

I've got some details of my coding in my blog. Its basicly 4 factors considered with the following order Puberty-Genetics-Growth Momentum-Age. This program coming out in September will only be the 1.0 version of it, so its probably very primative and basic. Pending on the success of this program, I would make further versions. Adding grandparent's height, more detailed age and previous growth, but I have no plans for that right now.

Edit- BTW, your final projected height would be 5'9.7 based on the calculations with 0.5- 1.1 inches left to grow.

RE: New Height Calculator(Alpha Testing)

your final projected height is 5'11.1 with 3-4.5 inches left to grow. Once my program's out you can get the results instantly. BTW, you are definately a late boomer if the tanner stage is correct( I am making a better version of the tanner calculator for my program).

RE: New Height Calculator(Alpha Testing)

more than likely your final height would be within the range of the natural growth you have left, when you have a much more healthier lifestyle than standard teenagers, you could obviously maxmize yout height and perhaps topping the calculated range. Keep in mind though this is only the ALPHA testing of the first version of my program, though its much more accurate than conventional ones, there is still alot of room for error.
