RE: New Food For Growth
you need calcium AND VITAMINE D, if you don't get enough vitamine d your body will not absorb the calcium enough.

From the website http://milk.procon.org/viewanswers.asp?q...nID=000817 :
--- "Calcium absorption from milk and other dairy products is about 32%, whereas calcium absorption from vegetables ranges from about 5% in spinach to more than 60% in some brassica vegetables such as broccoli. However, the high bioavailability of calcium from some vegetables cannot overcome their low calcium content. One would have to consume 2 1/4 cups of broccoli to obtain the same amount of calcium absorbed from one cup of milk." 2001 - Connie M. Weaver, PhD --- Milk and broccoli are about equal. Broccoli has the added effect of reducing estrogen; estrogen fuses growth plates. But on the other hand, milk (esp. those from cows treated with rBST) contains high levels of IGF-1. It's an equal tradeoff. Do both. |

The milk, cheese and yogurt group provide protein, calcium and vitamin D which are all needed for strong bones, teeth and muscles. Milk, yogurt, cheese and pudding all fit into this section of the pyramid. Meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dry beans and peas, nuts and seeds supply protein, iron, B vitamins and some minerals for strong muscles and healthy blood.
Breads, cereals, rice, pasta and other grain products are a good source of complex carbohydrates, which give us the energy we need for our active lives. They also provide the B vitamins, iron, other minerals and fiber. Crackers, muffins, pancakes, grits, oatmeal and cereals are also found in this group. short sale florida Building Inspections |

Broccoli is not as rich as milk in calcium. And no, it doesn't get absorbed more than milk. Although broccoli does have a high rate of absorption, it is not as high as that of milk.

Dude, it's not gonna help you grow significantly enough. I've been eating broccoli for two years now, consistently and haven't grown at all. Plus, just cause the calcium in Broccoli is more absorbed doesn't mean it's a lot of Broccoli (it's like 4% od daily value for a cup of Broccoli).
