Just wondering, what are american football and rugby like?
Just wondering, are they fun? A way to get rid of stress or anger?

I've had a really shit week and I need some way to wind down, so I've been looking at ways to get rid of stress (I've found Rugby, American Football, Freestyle Wrestling and Kickboxing).

To those who play them; how physically taxing are they (how tiring are they?)? I know you need bulk, but you also need speed and stamina for any of the four.

PLEASE NOTE: I am on an indefinate hiatus from GTForum. Nothing personal, just another project I've been working on since Summer '10. My account WILL reamain open - but please don't send PMs for advice until (and if) I return.

GOOD LUCK ALL HEIGHT SEEKERS!

My mum has this thing about me playing sports where the neck can be badly injured (she doesn't even like me on bouncy castles). I've never played a game of rubg in my life, yet everyone says I would be great at it.

American football is for pussies man. Rugby would be amazing for you. You definantly have the strength and body for it. It's a tough game that has a lot of physical contact unlike American football, you don't wear pads and a helmut like the pussy Americans. However, your mum would probably be more approving of American football since you do have to wear the protection.

One of my friends plays rugby; he says it's not really the same kind of tackling.

In American football; someone shouts a random number and everyone locks shoulders, I've never seen what happens in Rugby.

One other thing, what is the difference between Rugby League and Rugby Union?

RE: Just wondering, what are american football and rugby like?
the reason your friends are saying you would be good at is because your pretty damn big for 13 to be honest. You could also be very physically fit. Rigby and american football are similar but with very big differences ill list a few.

- Rugby ball is bigger and most of the time can only be thrown sideways or backwards..this is not necessary for american football.
- For american football you wear pads in rugby you dont
- Both are full contact sports but i think that you more blatently hit/tackle somebody in american football as they do not need to be on the ball at the time, watch a few videos on youtube or something.

And it release stress i recommend you lft weights... i am a much calmer person since i started lifting weights as i put all my anger into my lifting

hope this helped Smile

RE: Just wondering, what are american football and rugby like?
American football is intense, bro. You are running around on the field with guys that are huge charging at you at top notch human speed. Here's the thing about football, its more about a combination of speed, coordination, and size rather than just one of the factors. You can have the size, but without the coordination or speed, you won't able to score. Same if your lacking size, you might be overpowered if you don't have good coordination and speed to evade.

"it’s not unheard of for underweight high school kids to gain muscle very rapidly. But they are usually starting out very underweight and have the natural anabolic steroid cycle called puberty working for them."

RE: Just wondering, what are american football and rugby like?
Well, I'm joining my local Rugby F.C. and I might try out for my counties American Football team too.

I'm also starting amateur wrestling (what Kurt Angle did) and Kickboxing.

Lets see how well I come on.
