Is swimming the best way to gain spinal height?
Well Michael Phelps spine is definitely very broad and lengthy. That gives me the impression that anyone who practices swimming will make their shoulder broader and their spine lengthier. I also think that being in the water is an absolute advantage than doing ''stretching exercises and hanging'' on land because there is no gravity exerting on your spine. Thus, after a long period of time in the water, your spine will adapt and shape into the shape that you force it to grow into.

But the biggest question is, ''Is gain from the spine permanent?'' And what is the best method of achieving gain? Will stretches and hanging alone do the trick? Or do we also need to incorporate swimming in our routine if we are going to gain height through our spine.

the time for each interval will be unlimited, depending on how soon i reach these goals.

5'8.5 3/ 23/ 2011
goal 2: 5'8.75
goal 3: 5'9
goal 4: 5'9.25..etc. every goal just add .25 cm until 6'0

goal 21: end of goal, we will see if i will even reach this point...in 3 years from now till i'm 21.

He is genetically a giant.
not because of swimming.
But there are people who get results for swimming.
Don't worry.

Yes I would incorporate swimming into the routine, it helps to stretch your upper body once in a while when say your majority of workout is oriented towards cycling or running.

Will I still be able to gain height through my spine with only stretches and hanging? Because I don't have a pool nearby that I know of.

NO Gamer, I don't know how many times it has been said.

PHELPS IS A GENETIC FREAK WITH A LONG BACK, RIDICULOUS ARMS AND STUMPY LEGS. NONE OF THOSE TRAITS WERE DUE TO SWIMMING.

PLEASE NOTE: I am on an indefinate hiatus from GTForum. Nothing personal, just another project I've been working on since Summer '10. My account WILL reamain open - but please don't send PMs for advice until (and if) I return.

GOOD LUCK ALL HEIGHT SEEKERS!

In all honesty, you'd have to talk to someone whos tried it. There are a lot of different opinions on this.

My thoughts are that it will work a whole lot better than doing nothing, and worst case senario, you become an in-shape swimmer.

Starting height:5'7 (in August)
now:5'8 at night
Goal height:5'10
Dream Height:6'0
Gender:Male
age:17

The pool at my club is clsoed down for maintainence for a whole friggin month and I tried out the public swimming pool on Tuesday, it was packed with people I couldn't swim a full lap wtihout stopping twice!

darn I need to find a better place if I were to keep my height growth hopes alive
