In a dilemma...
I'm 16 and about 5'7 almost 5'8. Now you may be thinking "hey your not that short and you still have years left in you" but that might not be the case. I'm already taller than my father by about 3 inches, my mom by 5 inches and my older brother by about 4 inches. The tallest member in my family is 5'11. So as you can see my family is quite short. However my parents, aunts and uncles were very poor when they were about my age. Thus they suffered from malnutrition, and I can almost guarantee is why they never grew to their potential. Now the question i'm posing is do I inherit their potential growth or their current growth? Also if you want to know if my growth plate fused, they probably didn't. I injured my ankle about 3 months ago and they took some x-rays confirming my plates were still unfused. Any information on exercises, food, vitamins, proteins, and other factors that promote growth would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

RE: In a dilemma...
Forgot to add some key information about myself. My short term goal is 5'11 and dream height would be anywhere 6'0-6'4. Is this practical? I also grew about close to an inch this past year. I'm not sure if i've experience my growth spurt yet. I've never seen stretch marks on my body so that could be a clue.

RE: In a dilemma...
In 3 months i don't think they can fuse that much to stunt your height. So there is no question like can I grow? You surely can do something about it, but it depends only on you. About what you inherit: let's just say your height is not fixed with nails.

You can get over the potential by stimulating your body through diet, exercise and rest.

I don't believe in pills and powders, sollutions etc, because they're usually hard to absorb by the body. Just eat balanced: diary and carbohydrates at breakfast, meat (proteins) at lunch, and a mix of all these tree but especially diary food at dinner. In between you can have a snack: a fruit or a sandwich etc.

Exercises: the most intense ones do the trick: sprinting, jumping rope, weightlifting, push ups, chin-ups etc, everything that is intense. Stretching after the workout relax your body.

About potential, i was 173 at night in november 2008. And right now at night am 180cm. So it's pretty doable.

RE: In a dilemma...
Thanks, but is there anything more in depth? Like routines and foods that's specifically designed to help you grow?

No, i don't think just by eating a special food would boost your height. Also, you don't need fancy expensive food. Just eat healthy. As for the exercises: do your own routine, it will fit you the best.
