I grew almost an inch while lifting heavy, including squat, deadlift, bench, etc, basically my entire body. Deadlift builds a lot of muscle on the back which i believe that it helps with strengthening your spine and stuff 10/2009 ~ 160cm 2/2010 ~ 161cm 4/2010 ~ 161.5cm Age: 23 |

Amen to the HIIT and Sprints!!!
What they also don't tell you about long distance running is that it makes you fat in the long run. How you ask??? Well, you burn calories when you run longer distances but your body adapts and your metabolism slows down. In other words, NEVER run long distances for overall health. It damages your knees and you'd get much more benefits from sprints or working out. GHRP 2 + CJC-1295 (Since 2/16/11) |

The most effective are short bursts of high-intensity cardio (like sprinting up a hill) for the release of exercise-induced growth hormone. Second or equally effective is heavy weightlifting. let me put this in regular people's terms - "prolonged cardio workouts increase cortisol" - your body will divert calories to fat production more readily. thus, by doing alot of cardio, you are actually letting your body take on more fat, i guess. so thats why the long distance people who start to intake more calories than they burn tend to gain fat, whereas those who seem to do more anabolic exercises dont oh and question - bababooey, willhu, anyone that weightlifts. whats the best time pertaining to growth? i really love going to the gym at 1230 or 1 am, cus no one is there! no waiting for the bench or squat cage! but, i thought about it, i dont eat after, as i go to the gym, then sleep. however, my body feels more toned in the morning. would this be the most optimal time to work weights? or in the morning before school? also, what about HIIT swim training? |

[/quote] as long as you lift weights its good, i personally like doing cardio in the morning and weightlifting later in the afternoon. but dude you should be eating after you workout, if growth is what you want, your stomach should never be empty, except for when you work out, because studies show if you workout with partially digested food, youll have a decrease in hgh released as opposed to on a stomach not digesting. working out in the morning is cool too, you feel accomplished the rest of the day but most importantly eat dude. also, you should be sleeping by 1230. if you want to achieve more height than you really need to develop a good sleeping schedule. and as for HIIT swim traning, thats really good lot of gh produced and its all killer no filler, i used to do it when i was on my hs swim team, and if you can hack it, then do it, just as long as you DO IT BIG |

Whatever works for you. If you can't eat that late atleast drink a shake. I assume you're probably sleeping in pretty late though to make up for lost sleep. I can't deny that I do enjoy a 1 am workout on a weekend it is a great feeling being alone in the gym. If you workout in the morning then I would recommend either taking a pre-workout supplement, or eating some carbs right as you wake up then waiting an hour and working out. Some people workout on an empty stomach, but that just doesn't work for me in any case, so I lift after school. 24 June 2011 Age: 18 I am a "strength trainer" here to discuss height growth.
