Height decreases slightly after exercise?
Hey guys!

I've been measured recently (immediately after a workout that consisted of running 1.5 miles, jumproping, and weightlifting) and noticed that my height was around 182cm. However, on a day which I had virtually no exercise (3 weeks earlier), I was 183cm in the afternoon (not morning).

Was I mis-measured during the earlier measurement, or is height decrease after exercise a common phenomenon?

Thanks!

*EDIT* Nevermind, I remeasured without exercise and got 183cm.

Age: 19 (Born late spring 1990)

Goal Height: 185 cm (6'1")
Dream Height: 188 cm (6'2")

Summer 2008 Height: 180 cm (5'11")
June 2009 Height: 183 cm (6'0") (mid-day measurement)

Need thoughts on exercises and dietary routines I can follow. I feel as if my process is slowing down a lot.

Nvm I just measured myself. There is a 1cm difference between pre and post-exercise.

183cm pre, 182cm post.

RE: Height decreases slightly after exercise?
it compresses because of gravity.

RE: Height decreases slightly after exercise?
Yeah its true, height decrease during/after exercise is inevitable, but you usually get your height back within a few minutes/ hours.

Age 16 - ( 17 in november)
Starting height 5"7 (at night)(20th April 2009)
Current Height - 5"8 ( at night)
TARGETS
5"9 - December 2009
5"10 - May/ June 2010
Dream height 6"0

1 cm is small amount. Could depend on many things. At what time did you measure yourself at both times - morning or evening?

RE: Height decreases slightly after exercise?
Could be the time difference, but it is very normal to lose about a centimete in height after working out, especially when squatting. It's just compressing the spine. No worries, though. Your height will return to normal after an hour or two.
