Do boys or girls have two growth spurts?
I'm 15+ years old this year, a male and 171.5cm tall. I had been trying means and ways in order to grow taller. I exercise almost every day since last year -- playing basketball, swimming, running and more. I drink around 2 cups of milk day and night. I grew 1 cm.
I had read a comment made by a parent on the internet saying that it is possible to have two growth spurts -- one is straight after puberty starts and the other is when puberty is about to "end". I'm wondering if the comment is reliable or not. I had my spurt when I was around 11 years old -- 10 cm a year, lasting till I'm 13 years old (142cm~162cm). My parents' height, mother -- 162cm, father -- 167cm (shrunk a little).
I really hope to grow to 180cm...so please, can someone tell me? Even if the answer is not that optimistic...><

By the way, I found some height calculators on the internet and almost all of them gave me bullshit predictions. Some gave heights like 167.5cm or 169cm -- adult height. Utter rubbish! >=(

First, glad you realize these calculators are shit. Many people take them seriously.

Second, bout the growth spurt thing. Many people have multiple growth spurts. Not everyone does. You cant depend on getting another one, and as far as i know, you cant force one.

We have many growth spurts. Some more than others. As long as children have a good diet that's protein and calcium enriched and have good sleep they can reach their maximal growth. Adults on the other hand still may not be happy with their height. There are natural ways to increase their height to a max of three inches tall. I have a Squidoo page dedicated to growing taller. It has tips and recommended programs on how to increase one's height.

So how tall do you people think I will grow? >< In Singapore, I'm counted as a male with average height. (I'm a Singaporean)

I couldnt say for sure. If you do everything you can to get taller I would guess you could get at least 5 more centimeters. Thats a guess though. No one can say for sure.

So guess that I can conclude that one's height cannot be determined by anything? Healthy eating, exercise regularly and ample sleep are the ones which can help one to grow?
